Today, PPGCI wakes up in mourning. Our alumna, Andreza Pereira Batista, passed away on the night of this Monday, August 3, 2026.
Andreza was always an exemplary and dedicated student, easygoing and incredibly gentle. In 2023, she suffered a serious accident that left her with lasting sequelae. Even in the face of adversity, in 2025, she defended her master’s thesis, demonstrating remarkable strength, courage, and determination.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gabriela Belmont de Farias, her research entitled “Perceptions of researchers in the Communication and Information field regarding the dissemination and popularization of science” was defended on March 31 of this year — a milestone of resilience that will remain etched in our memory.
We say goodbye with heavy hearts, but certain of the inspiring legacy Andreza has left us. May this be a “see you soon,” Andreza. Rest in peace.
