XVI SEMINAR ON THEMATIC REPRESENTATION OF INFORMATION (SERTINF)

On June 18th of this year, the Federal University of Ceará will host the 16th Seminar on Thematic Representation of Information (SERTINF), from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The event is hybrid, free, and open to the public.

The 16th SERTINF is organized by students from the 4th semester of the Library Science program, by the Information Representation Research Group (GPRI/UFC/CNPq), and has the support of the Center for Humanities, the Department of Information Science, the Coordination of the Library Science Program, and the Graduate Program in Information Science at UFC. Participants of the 16th SERTINF will have the opportunity to attend lectures covering topics such as the representation and organization of information in archival documents, Cordel literature, THESA, and a talk on Asian libraries. There will also be a book launch. Just a reminder: the seminar schedule begins at 2:30 PM. The first lecture, on the indexical representation of archival documents, will be delivered by Luziana Lourenço Moreira, Librarian and Archivist at UNIFOR, who holds a master’s degree in Information Science. Then, at 3:00 PM, librarian Regina Célia Paiva da Silva, a specialist in Scientific Research from the State University of Ceará, currently working at BECE, will address the topic: Indexical Representation of Cordel Literature. At 3:30 PM, Professor Rene F. Gabriel Junior, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Library Science from PUC PR, a master’s degree in Information Science, Management, and Technology, and a PhD in Information Science, will give a lecture on THESA (Applied Semantic Thesaurus), which he developed. At 4:00 PM, Professor Antônio Francisco Guerra Pereira from the Department of History at the State University of Ceará, a historian with a master’s degree in Education, will offer a reflection on Asian Libraries: Between Tradition and Modernity. At 4:30 PM, there will be a debate session, followed by the book launch at 5:00 PM of Vida de Gatos (Cats’ Life) by Maria de Jesus Leite Nunes (Maila).
